Finders, keepers? The present and future perfect in support of personal information management (05 Mar 2004)
The keeping decision is fundamental to the management of personal information and fundamentally difficult to do. We make mistakes, and these mistakes can be costly. We keep information that turns out to be worse than useless - it gets in the way and may distract our attention from information that really is useful. We choose not to keep information that turns out to be important. We then suffer the extra time of finding this information again or, worse, we donít find this information or forget about it altogether.
